Summer open visitor centre in Odnes

Would you like to experience the wonderful nature we have in the Land region and see the vibrant birdlife? Are you looking for something interesting and exciting to do with the family this summer? The Dokka Delta Wetland Centre is open this summer Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer holidays (week 26 to week 33). You can hire canoes, fishing equipment, binoculars and telescopes here, and each Wednesday there are activities such as nature trails, bird ringing or guided canoe trips. When we are open you will be able to visit our current exhibition ‘biological diversity in wetlands’. Welcome to our nature visitor centre, where all the activities and entry is free!

The visitor centre is open 10am-4pm Wednesdays and Saturdays in the school holidays. This year we can offer the following exciting activities:

  • A reptile trail with questions about Norwegian reptiles and amphibians. Do you know if a slowworm is a lizard or a snake? How do adders kill their prey? We have prizes for the three best competitors!

  • Flute making with Stein Villa. Make your own plastic flute and listen to traditional folk music with the well-known local musician Stein Villa.

  • A guided canoe trip around the Dokka Delta. We have canoes, vests and oars available. Feel free to bring your own canoe and equipment if you have this. The Dokka Delta abounds with animal life, and there are lots of cultural monuments to see. The best way to experience the delta is from a canoe!

  • An exciting talk about bees for both kids and adults with Erik Wegge Bergvik from La Humla Suse. Learn to draw bumble bees and capture aquatic organisms.

  • An obstacle course with Aktiv i Land. This course is designed for children between 0-12 years, but everyone is welcome! Prizes to everyone that takes part!

  • Bird ringing with Trond Øigarden. Learn about birds that can be found in the area around the wetland centre. This is an activity that is perfect for all ages!

  • Painting with nature. How does it feel to paint with a twig, or a pinecone? An exciting activity for kids!

Entry and all activities are free! Hope to see you this summer!
